The Nagpada police, in the wee hours of Thursday, arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly creating ruckus inside Nagpada police station. The arrested person also threatened to set himself ablaze if the police booked him in any case. The arrested person has been identified as Sanjay Ingale, a resident of Pratiksha Nagar at Sion.

According to the police, constable Umesh Suryavanshi, posted with Nagpada police station since 2013, was on duty around 8pm on Wednesday. His work is to assist duty officer in preliminary inquiries.

Around 3am, Nagpada police's mobile van had picked up three persons who were reportedly involved in a quarrel at Kamathipura, Nagpada and had brought them to the police station for further inquiries.

When Suryavanshi asked them the reason why they were involved in a quarrel with each other, one of them stood up and said the other two were robbers and that the police are hand-in-glove with them and started abusing the police personnel present at the police station.

"The man, who identified himself as Sanjay Ingale, also threatened that if the police will book him in any case, he would set himself ablaze. When the police asked him his address, he refused to reveal his address and claimed to be a terrorist," said a police officer.

Ingale was then booked under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and was placed under arrest.
