You may have a blast at Diwali but it is an ordeal for pets and strays.

It is during Diwali that maximum cases of pets and strays being injured are registered. The high-decibel noise scares animals who scamper for shelter and are hit by vehicles.  “Dog bite cases too increases and there have been cases when scared dogs have bitten their owners,” says Dr Richa Singh, veterinary physician.  Around 80 to 90% of dogs are scared of crackers.

PAWS (Plant and Animal Welfare Society) has taken an initiative to spread awareness about celebrating a noiseless Diwali. Posters will be put up in housing societies about the ill-effects of bursting crackers and how it is harmful for animals.
