A Mumbai University (MU) Master of Law (LLM) girl student was allegedly asked to sleep on the floor at the Savitribai Phule Girls Hostel's Kalina Campus, since the same room was also allocated to another person from the undergraduate law course. As per the rules, each room contains one bed, one cupboard, etc. and is meant for one student only.

As per rules, two seats are reserved for LLM girl students out of 12 at the Mumbai University. However, one of these seats has already been occupied by a second year LLM student, while another was allocated a few days ago to a first year LLM student following an interview selection process.

"I come from rural Delhi. I was allotted the seat as per an interview process by the law department of the Mumbai University. They allocated me the seat at the Kalina campus. But suddenly, two days ago, I was told to sleep on the floor, as my room has also been allotted to another girl. They asked me to bring my own bed if I couldn't sleep on the floor. But why should I do any of this when I went through the correct process? I have written to all the officials who were responsible in allotting me this room. I hope they are able to do some justice," the girl said.

Shomit Salunkhe, law faculty, said, "If the seats are allocated to two LLM girl students and have already been given to them, how can one of them be asked to sleep on the floor by accommodating another girl without making any arrangements? This is an erroneous coordination and mismanagement by MU officials."
