Life in Mumbai remained largely unaffected on Thursday. However, the fear of past violence ensured that there was less traffic on the roads and lesser crowd in trains, particularly during the earlier half of the day.
Morning traffic was thin as people were not sure of how the ban would pan out. "Our college starts at 7.30 am and lectures continue till afternoon. However, out of 200, only 15 students came and our teacher asked us to leave as a safety precaution," said Shivani Jain, an FYBA student of Jai Hind College.
Meanwhile in Navi Mumbai, though a bandh was not called, instances of people staging protests and assembling at certain places was reported.
