A woman working with a working a reputed real estate firm at Colaba has recently lodged a mental and physical harassment complaint against her husband and mother-in-law. According to the police, the victim (28) used to stay with her husband and in-laws at Pokhran Road area of Thane. The victim, who works as a sales manager with a real estate firm, got married in July 2017. A month later, the victim found her husband having obscene conversations with other women.
"When she confronted her husband, the latter allegedly avoided the matter. As per the victim, her husband used to watch pornographic videos and force her to perform oral sex with him. The victim alleged that her in-laws kept demanding for money," said an officer from Chitalsar police station in Thane.
As per the victim, when she came home from work on February 14, her husband, asked her to get Rs 5 lakh so that he can start a business. "Victim alleged that when she refused to comply, she was assaulted by her husband and mother-in-law. She then lodged a police complaint in this regard on Friday. We are probing into the case and would record statements of the people named by the victim in the FIR," the officer said.
The police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections 498 A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) against victim's husband and mother-in-law.
