The Kurla police have registered a case of theft against an absconding accused who is said to have looted gold jewellry and valuables worth Rs 10 lakh. The accused was said to be working as a caretaker of a Kurla-based gold showroom and the theft took place on Wednesday.

According to the police, the complaint has been lodged by Rakesh Kothari (37) who is said to be another employee working in the shop. We have launched a manhunt against the accused and are trying to find all possible leads to trace him. Total gold stolen from the shop is Rs 10 lakhs as claimed by the complainant and the stolen materials include gold jewelry and other valuables. The accused is presently absconding and relative investigation of the case is under progress. We have registered a case under section 381 (theft by servant of property in possession of master) of the Indian Penal Code and concerned people are being questioned in the case." said senior police inspector of Kurla police station, Dattatraya Shinde.
