Mumbai Crime Branch arrests man in double murder case

The accused, Mohammad Hasan Abdul Aziz Siddique, is said to be the mastermind in the case, who was absconding since the case was registered.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a 44-year-old man from Byculla station area on Friday in connection with a double murder case in Daman. The accused, Mohammad Hasan Abdul Aziz Siddique, is said to be the mastermind in the case, who was absconding since the case was registered.

On 2 April, a scrap trader named Ajay Patel alias Manjra, and his friend, Dhiraj Patel were returning to Bhimpore in their car when an SUV rammed into their vehicle and fire 12 rounds from their pistols at both of them that resulted in their deaths on the spot. The Daman police had registered an FIR in the matter and arrested a man named Ajay.

"During the investigation, the Daman police requested us to help them track down Siddique and shared details with us for the same. We got a tip-off following which we traced Siddique and arrested him," said a police officer.

The accused has been handed over to the Daman police.
