A 35-year-old police constable posted with Bandra police station was found dead under mysterious condition in Santa Cruz on Friday.

In what condition was the body found?
The constable's body was wrapped in a quilt and was put on fire to destroy all evidence. The incident occurred in a small room at Indira Nagar Chawl in Santa Cruz (W). The police believe that personal enmity could be the reason behind the murder.

Who is the deceased?
According to the Santa Cruz police, the deceased has been identified as Dilip Borule, a police constable.

How was the body discovered?
The incident came to light when one Raju Sharma (30), noticed smoke coming out from the room. Sharma then rushed to the room along with others. However, when they reached the room, they found the door to be locked. Sharma along with others broke the lock, and found the body wrapped in the quilt and fumes emanating from it. Sharma immediately called the cops.

What did the cops say?
"We found rope marks around Borule's neck, which we believe was used to strangulate him," said assistant commissioner of police, D Jadhav, adding that the accused had taken away Borule's mobile phone, and his identity card. They were also unable to trace his clothes, hence it is clear that the accuse did not want the cops to know Borule's identity.

Lot of unanswered questions
The police are clueless about Borule's presence in the Santa Cruz room as he lived in Kalyan with his family. "We know that he was on duty on Wednesday, and Thursday was his weekly-off, but on Friday, he was suppose to report to work but he didn't," said ACP Jadhav. During the investigation, the police came to know that the room in which Borule's body was found belonged to one businessman from Kurla, identified as Javed Khan.

Who was Borule?
Borule belongs to the motor transport department of Mumbai Police and worked as a driver of a police jeep used for wireless services. He had earlier worked at Santa Cruz police from 2008 to 2013, and was with the Bandra police for nearly 45 days. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
