A passenger's life was saved during the Monday morning rush after the passengers and guard of the K32 Kalyan-CST managed to spot a man who had fallen off the train. The incident occurred around 9:05am between Mumbra and Kalwa stations, some 36 kilometres away from Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus.
"Passengers pulled the alarm chain of the train. The guard of the train R K Meena got off the train, walked over 300 metres along the track with the Permanent Way Inspector (a railway functionary incharge of the tracks) and some other passengers and lifted the passenger back onto the train" explained a senior Central Railway official.
The passenger was then handed over to the assistant station master of Kalwa station who rushed him to a nearby hospital. Officials said the person's condition was stable.
