The festivities for dna's Eco Ganesha celebrations are on in full swing. The celebrations, presented by Tata Housing, saw a fantastic turnout in five of the city'd largest malls – Fun Republic (Andheri west), Oberoi Mall (Goregaon East), R-City Mall (Ghatkopar West), Viviana Mall (Thane West) and Raghuleela Mega Mall (Kandivali West).

Watch the LIVE coverage below:

Sahil Gilani, the director of sales and marketing at Gits Foods, who has organised a number of workshops in these malls, said, "We have conducted dessert-making workshops where the preparation of our dessert mixes like Gulab Jamun, Basundi, Jalebi and Bombay Halwa were demonstrated in three easy steps."

Elaborating on Gits' role in the eco-friendly celebrations, Gilani said, "We educate our work force of over 500 people on how to reduce wastage and on the importance of helping the environment. Moreover, our manufacturing processes are constantly working towards minimising our carbon footprint at every level of operation.

Homemaker Vandana U, who was at Viviana Mall over the weekend, said she had a blast at the workshop. "It was a wonderful experience. While I am well-versed with making desserts, the three-step workshop was an eye-opener," she said.

Juhu resident Anagha Parekh, who visited Oberoi Mall, said that the solar-flowered Ganesha looked beautiful. "It's such a unique concept. The crowd here has been quite vibrant," she told dna. Except for Raghuleela Mega Mall, the other malls will conduct celebrations only up to September 4, following which there will be a clean-up drive at Juhu beach.

Meanwhile, entries for the Eco Ganesha awards have been coming in by the dozen. If you want to participate, send in pictures of your eco-friendly celebrations and selected entries will be awarded at a glittering ceremony.
