Mumbai calligrapher to impart Devnagari lessons in San Francisco

The International Calligraphy Exhibition will conduct a special workshop and a Masterclass by renowned Mumbai calligrapher, Achyut Palav during the 6th Calligraphies in Conversation to be held in San Francisco.

The opening ceremony, which will be held on 7th June 2019, will showcase two of Palav's painting in the Master's section alongside the work of selected calligraphers from around the world and will also host his live demonstration on Devnagri script.

Using this opportunity to highlight Indian culture, he will present various styles of Indian Calligraphy in his masterclass on 12th June, 2019 in front of selected American calligraphers who will learn Devnagari script. His paintings this year are based on the line from Sant Tukaram's Abhang 'Anadache Dohi Ananda Taranga'.

"This is an opportunity for me to showcase the American calligraphers the nuances of the Devnagari script. Going to U.S, I would like to present my culture through calligraphy. I intend to bring forth the beauty of Marathi Language and Indian Calligraphy before the world," expressed Pallav.

Apart from America, his paintings will also be exhibited in the 11th World Calligraphy Biennale in South Korea in September 2019 which will feature lines 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' and 'Jyotine Tejachi Aarati'.

Known for his unique style and experiments in calligraphy, Palav in 2017 he was one of the six calligraphers chosen from around the world for a prestigious project in Paris in which he used lines from works of noted poets and saints like Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Tukaram, Bahinabai, N. D. Mahanor, Mangesh Padgaonkar and others to to showcase Marathi language and literature to global audiences.

Along with Palav's paintings, the works of his students will also be at display in the digital section of upcoming exhibition in San Francisco.
