Western Railway's slow line from Andheri to Borivali was shut at around 9 AM on Friday after a piece of the track broke between Goregaon and Malad. Thousands of people were seen walking on the tracks.

Speaking to DNA, Ravinder Bhakar, chief public relations officer of WR said, "A piece of the track has come loose. It will take some time to restore. An engineering has rushed to the site".

A commuter Mansoor Umer Darvesh said that there was chaos on tracks since the problem has occurred during peak hours. "I left at 9 AM from Jogeshwari to go to Vasai and I have not crossed Goregaon as of 9:45 AM," Darvesh told DNA.

Western Railway spokesperson later confirmed that the track fracture was fixed at 10:31 AM.
