Twenty nine-year-old artist Shishir Shinde has a reason to smile. Soon, one of his paintings will be put up for display at Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) headquarters in Banglore.

The theme of Shinde's painting is Mangalyaan, India's first mission to Mars, depicting a man clutching an Indian flag while reaching out to the Red Planet. Recently, an ISRO official received the painting and ensured the artist that it will soon be installed in their headquarters.

This is not the first time Shinde has gifted one of his paintings. A fine arts graduate from the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya in Pune, it was Shinde who, through police commissioner Satyapal Singh, gifted a painting of his to the photojournalist who was gangraped in Shakti Mills.

ISRO's director of publications and public relations, Devi Prasad Karnik, confirmed that they received the artwork. He said, "After the success of the Mars mission, lots of people from different parts of country had sent us congratulatory messages through letters while school children sent us paintings. Shinde also sent us a painting which we received 20 days ago. It is very beautiful and will soon be seen on our office wall."

"I am really feel happy that my painting will be displyed in a place where the true heroes of our country 24 hours towards its progress. This is a really proud moment for me. I don't like to do paintings which just makes our homes beautiful. I want to speak out on social issues through my art," said Shinde.
