Anxiety of residents of the Llyods Estate in Dosti Acres is rising every day. After development of cracks and an uneven ground floor due to underground construction in an adjacent plot in C and D wings, the common wall of A and B wings has been found to have cracks. Residents of A and B wings on Monday morning, realised the wall has developed an eight-metre-long crack.
Ashwin Deshmukh, a resident of D wind said, "After land caved in last week, we had seen the wall had a three-feet-long crack but it was not as major as cracks in C and D wings. But on Monday morning, A wing residents realised that the small crack had increased to eight feet. Although the structural engineer told us that all four wings are fit to stay, but it doesn't allay fear and anxiety among residents."
N Ambika, Deputy Commissioner of Police said, "The residents have not informed us about the newly developed cracks. The experts who are carrying the structural audit will submit their report to the court on Friday which will include all details about the structure. However, the residents can approach the local police station".
Deshmukh further said, "The team of three experts from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) have inspected our building, the crack too, and prima facie have stated it as fit to stay. They have collected soils for testing. On Tuesday, they will carry further inspection and a detailed report will be submitted in court on Friday".
