Mumbai: 9 coaches of train overshoots Bhayander station

Nine coaches of a Andheri bound suburban local overshoot at Bhayander station on Friday morning, raising concerns about passengers safety. However, there were no casualties due to the incident.

The local train was scheduled to on Bhayander at 7.08 am, however, nine coaches of the fast local from Dahanu road went ahead of the platform, making it difficult for commuters to get down.

According to western railway (WR) officers, there is a probability that the motorman and guard of the train might forgot to stop when the train approached at the station. It was later by the time motorman realise the overshooting of the trains post which he applied brakes.

A WR official said, "An enquiry being conducted and the particular rake will also be checked."

In a similar incident relating to passenger safety, wherein lives of thousands of commuters travelling in a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-Belapur train was at stake on the night of April 13. The motorman, R Meena, was attacked by an unknown person who threw a packet of masala powder on him at Govandi station.
