Just before the CA final exam results were announced, Gaurav Shrawagi, 22, used social media to express his anxiety. On Wednesday, Shrawagi had posted on Facebook, “Let’s hope life will not be the same after 15/01/2014.” His wish came true with the announcement of the results — Shrawagi topped with 66.75%.

Working with a chartered accountancy firm in Nagpur, Shrawagi hails from Akot in Akola district. “I worked hard for the last six months, but I never expected to top,” said Shrawagi, who had secured all-India rank 23 in the intermediate examination.

However, becoming a CA wasn’t his first choice. “I wanted to become an engineer and studied a lot for the entrance exam, but I couldn’t get admission to any of the good colleges in Mumbai or Pune.

Hence, I changed to commerce and, then, started pursuing CA,” he said.
