The long struggle of Anuradha Ashok Paldhe to let the truth behind her son Amar Ashok Paldhe's death come out finally got succour when she received a letter of grant from Hyderabad High Court. The court has asked Indian Navy to re-conduct a free and fair inquiry about my son's death.

Amar lost his life under mysterious circumstances while participating in peace-time operation of Helo-Jumping at Kakinada Coast under the Eastern Naval Command in September 1993.

In a letter addressed to the defence minister following the court direction, Anuradha states: I have been fighting a long and tedious battle of 23 years in search of truth and to seek justice for my deceased son. Now that I have won at several courts against the Navy, more recently at Hyderabad High Court, where the court in no uncertain terms asked Indian Navy to re-conduct a free and fair inquiry about my son's death and wrap it up in the next six months, I have only hope in your upright attitude and commitment to truth and our holy motherland."

September 23, 1993, Anuradha got a telegram from the Navy that her son, who had complained of harassment by his senior, was missing. "That day I had an awful dream. When I was sitting near a culvert, a frightened Amar comes up to me, sits down, hugs my knees with his face in my lap complaining that someone's was trying to kill him. The next day, fishermen found his body on the Kakinada Coast.

While fighting the case, Anuradha received threat calls from unknown numbers asking her to withdraw the case.

It has been a brave fight by the parents initially and now only by the mother to seek justice. She hopes that at least now, wise counsel would prevail on Indian Navy and they will hold fresh a board of inquiry at the earliest as directed by the court.
