MTNL Mumbai site falls victim to hacking

The Mumbai MTNL website had been hacked. Visitors to the website were greeted with a cartoon and a  "Happy Independence Day Pakistan "  message.

MTNL has logded a complaint with the Mumbai Crime Branch. Investigations are on and are trying to ascertain if any data was stolen.

There has ben no official statement from MTNL on this matter.

MTNL is a government telecom service provider with operations in Mumbai and Delhi. The information on this website being considered extremely sensitive, the site's hacking has come as a shock.

As of 9.50 am on Saturday, the site appeared back to normal.
