Nationalist Congress Party members in the state legislative council on Thursday moved a breach of privilege motion against a couple of BJP members for allegedly distorting the remarks by the state home minister about assaults on women.
The motion specifically named Vinod Tawde, leader of the opposition in the legislative council, and Shobha Phadnavis, member of the council.
In response to a calling attention motion in the house on Wednesday, home minister RR Patil had said that the safety of women was a top priority for the state government. However, the opposition members apparently twisted his statement to show his in a poor light.
Council chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh has withheld a decision on the motion.
