The 23 years old woman had delivered a baby girl 1.6 years ago when she conceived again delivered a daughter and later killed her 21 days after her birth
The Powai police have arrested a 23 years old mother for allegedly smothering and killing her 21 old days daughter by smashing her head on the floor when her husband went out for work. The woman has a 1.6 years old daughter and wanted to deliver a baby boy but she delivered a baby girl leading to the extreme step.
According to police, Meena Jaiswal, 23 was at their residence in Shiv Shakti nagar of Saki Vihar road in Powai. Her husband Razlu, 25 an employee with a garment industry had went for work. The couple were very eager to deliver a baby boy but the woman gave birth to the baby girl. The couple often fought over the decision and also informed the parents that they did not wanted a baby girl and they should do something about it.
"When the woman could not see any solution to the problem the lady first smothered the baby and later smashed her head on the floor", said a Powai police officer.
"The lady did not take the baby to the hospital and it was only when the husband arrived, he took the baby girl to a local clinic and the doctor referred her to the Rajawadi hospital and she was declared dead before admission", said the officer.
Bhai Mahadeshwar, Senior Inspector, Powai police station said, "The post mortem report of the toddler revealed about the internal injuries caused due to smashing of the head which led to the killing."
"We have arrested the woman under section 302(murder) of the Indian Penal code and we will produce the accused in the court on Saturday", said Mahadeshwar.
We are probing if the husband of the accused too is involved in the case and if the lady is trying to protect him, further investigations are on. He added.
