Pune: Mother beats son to death with cricket bat

A mother allegedly beat her 13-year-old son to death with a cricket bat following a domestic discord, police said on Thursday.

The woman Rakhi Balpande (36), according to a complaint lodged with the Vishrantwadi police in Pune, was enraged over the boy's insistence to stay with his estranged father following divorce proceedings, police said. 

After hitting the boy, identified as Chaitanya Balpande (13), the accused took him to Sasson general hospital herself where he succumbed to multi-organ injuries on Wednesday. She is reported to be at a lead position in the admin department in a multi-national corporation with offices in Pune. The boy's father who lives in Nagpur arrived in Pune last evening. Rakhi Balpande has been booked under section 302 (murder) of IPC, police said.
