Shifted from Pune’s Yerwada prison, Nilesh Paradkar alias Sripad will reunite today with fellow gang members Vinod Yadav, Vicky Malhotra and Dharmesh

Reunion with old friends - that’s what Chhota Rajan’s aide, Nilesh Paradkar alias Sripad, has in store for him in Thane jail. There would be jubilation even in confinement as he would join fellow gang members Vinod Yadav alias Vinod Bhaiiyaa, Vicky Malhotra and Dharmesh Shah alias Nannu - all serving their sentences there.

An MCOCA court in Thane ordered on Monday that Paradkar be shifted to Thane prison. The gangster had been cooling his heels in Pune’s Yerwada prison for conspiring to kill film financer Bharat Shah in November 2004.

Once he arrives in Thane jail on Tuesday, Paradkar would be able to dig into the sumptuous non-vegetarian spread delivered to Vicky Malhotra every day. Being the only Rajan aide allowed to have home-cooked food in jail, Malhotra shares his meal with his old cronies.

“Paradkar held a pivotal position in the gang, with Rajan carrying out his extortion activities through him. After he reunites with his friends in prison, he is likely to try and reactivate his old network to carry out extortions, and get in touch with more of his cronies,” said a source.

Jail officials have beefed up security inside the premises. “There are instances of Rajan men attacking cops in prison,” said a police official. “We are not going to take any chances.”

Circle No 1 at Thane prison belongs almost exclusively to Rajan henchmen and aides. They enjoy a lot of clout inside the prison. Officials feel that with Paradkar joining the gang, the Rajan faction will be more in control.

“Paradkar had been lodged in Thane as an undertrial, and was shifted to Yerwada for his involvement in the conspiracy against Bharat Shah,” said a jail source. “There is a lot of excitement among Rajan aides now.”
