Monorail services here came to a halt for almost two hours this evening due to voltage fluctuation as the city's transport system suffered a second power-related disruption in a month. "Monorail stopped for one and half hours from 6.30pm to 8 pm due to voltage fluctuation throughout alignment. All trains were at stations at that time," Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority ( MMRDA) said in a statement.

An official from the state-run authority, which implemented the project, said as the trains were at the stations no passenger was hurt. Nearly 13 services were cancelled due to the technical fault. The services were restored after 8.30 pm, he said.

On March 15, monorail services had come to a halt for nearly three hours due to power failure, leaving 11 people, including a train captain, stranded inside a coach near Bhakti Park in Wadala area. They were evacuated safely by fire personnel who used snorkels to bring them down from the elevated track.

Monorail services operate between 6 am and 10 pm.
