Bhartiya Janta Party's (BJP) ally in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena, once again lashed out at the party and prime minister Narendra Modi in its mouthpiece Saamna.

"At last, the slogan of Vande Mataram was heard in Kashmir's Lal Chowk. The slogans for the victory of Bharat Mata were also shouted and the tricolour was also unfurled," the editorial said, adding that this was done by "fearless, nationalist Shiv Sainiks with a 56-inch chest" as a response to a challenge from former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah.

The editorial further slammed the Narendra Modi-led government and said while attacks on soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir were still on, the Kashmiri pandits were still to return to their homes in the valley.

"We thought that the BJP's ministers in the Kashmir government will rise to the challenge and unfurl the tricolour at Lal Chowk to teach Abdullah a lesson. But the ministers in the Mehbooba government did not do it. Hence, seven Shiv Sainiks raised the tricolour in Lal Chowk to take up Abdullah's challenge," the editorial added.

It said Modi had been unable to fulfill his pre-election promises of getting back Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and added that the Shiv Sainiks who had "wiped off the stain of Babri at Ayodhya" (by demolishing the Babri Masjid) had done the act at Lal Chowk.

Shiv Sena's president Uddhav Thackeray is the editor and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut is Saamna's executive editor,
