Mob lynches man in Malad

In a shocking incident, a man around the age of 40 was allegedly lynched by a mob on Monday suspecting him to be a thief. Malwani police have arrested four persons in this regard and are probing further.

According to police, Manish Solanki was standing near an ice factory at Madh when suddenly, a man shouted that a thief has been attempting robbery, and alerted other locals. A group of youth then caught hold of Solanki and assaulted him. He was tied to a tree near the factory and was beaten severely.

Before police could arrive, the youth had injured him on his head and had caused severe internal injuries as well. Solanki was rushed to Shatabdi hospital for treatment, but he died during treatment.

"Before we reached the spot, the victim was in a semiconscious state. We rushed him to the hospital, but the man died during treatment," said a Malwani police officer.

"We have registered a case under sections 302(murder), 342(wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code and have arrested four persons so far. Family members of the deceased have not been located. We are investigating further," said Dipak Phatangare, Senior Inspector, Malwani police station.
