MNS members vandalise PWD office at Turbhe over potholes

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) members vandalised the PWD office at Turbhe on Monday, to protest against potholes on Sion-Panvel highway. "The highway was built at a cost of Rs 1200 crore. "In the past one and half years over 103 people have lost lives due to potholes," says Gajanan Kale, city president, MNS, Navi Mumbai. "But neither the government nor the Public Works Department is doing anything about it. Hence, we took this measure," Kale further added.

The 24 km Sion-Panvel highway provides connectivity to Goa, Konkan, western parts of Maharashtra. MNS also wrote to the chief minister Fadnavis and Navi Mumbai police commissioner to file a case of human killing against PWD minister Eknath Shinde, Pravin Pote, PWD officials, engineers and also contractors over pothole deaths.
