The next time the doorbell rings, it could be a Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) official come to learn about your travel pattern and preferences.

As part of a comprehensive transport study (CTS), MMRDA officials will conduct a door-to-door survey to learn about Mumbaikars' travelling preferences and expectations for the city's infrastructure.

Satellite cities such as Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Thane, Mira Road, Vasai and Virar will be the focus of the survey, where the city population is expected to migrate in the coming years.

"We are updating the CTS, and plan to conduct a door-to-door-survey to reach out to the citizens to understand and anticipate their needs," an MMRDA official said.

Officials expect suggestions for more Metro corridors in satellite cities. The CTS was last updated in 2008, during which a 120-km Metro network was suggested. Based on it, work on the three Metro corridors is underway.

Meanwhile, during an event at Mira Road, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the Wadala-Thane Metro-4 corridor will be extended upto Gaimukh at Ghodbunder Road, Thane.
