The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is waiting for monsoon to get over so it can chalk out a final schedule for construction of the Kherwadi flyover's north-bound arm in Bandra (East).

Speaking to dna, metropolitan commissioner UPS Madan said, "We are yet to finalise the dates to begin construction work on the other arm of the Kherwadi flyover on the western express highway."

Once the rains have stopped, it is only then that an application for a formal clearance from the Mumbai traffic police will be moved by the MMRDA.

Prior to construction, the MMRDA may have to take temporary measures to ensure a smooth flow of traffic, similar to those taken when the flyover's south-bound arm was being built.

Barricading and construction work on the Kherwadi bridge had begun on November 1, 2013. The flyover was inaugurated by chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on June 16 this year.

The north arm is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 21.96 crore. The Kherwadi flyover enables motorists travelling from Dahisar to the Western Express Highway to get a traffic signal-free route right up to the Bandra Worli Sea Link toll post or the Mahim causeway traffic junction.
