Aiming at beautification, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to construct a deck facing Mithi River and mangroves below the under-construction flyover connecting Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) with Bandra-Worli Sea-Link (BWSL). The plan is to have aesthetics in order to create open green space for the general public.

The MMRDA is currently finalising designs for the deck that will be constructed. "The construction of deck will be a component in the ongoing flyover work connecting BKC and BWSL that is aimed at decongesting traffic movement at Kala Nagar junction," said an MMRDA official.

The MMRDA official added, "The idea is to have aesthetics, and we are also planning to have cables installed on the flyover near the portion where flyover passes via Kala Nagar junction. However, the whole flyover will not be cable-stayed but just the portion above Kala Nagar junction."

According to MMRDA officials, the deck maybe planned like where people can come and sit on promenades along with that there will be plantation there. "Various designs are drafted, and we are working on the technical feasibility of the deck currently that will decide the final design of the same."

The BKC BWSL flyover will start from a nearby family court in BKC, and will go up-to Bandra Reclamation near BWSL. While one more arm will connect from Mahim side with the flyover below which the deck has been proposed for which the design is being prepared. Further, the Bandra skywalk will also be partly realigned for the construction of 1.6-km-long flyover.
