City-based ENT surgeon Dr Vikram Khanna was found in Karjat on Thursday. On Monday, Khanna was spotted at Sion station. He was boarding a train headed for Dadar, which was to eventually leave for Kalyan. The family's search for him started after they lost contact with him last Friday.

Khanna, while leaving home had left a note that said "I'm tired". Khanna used to serve in five hospitals and two private clinics. Although he did not have any signs of depression, the doctor was troubled by failing income. He has his mother, wife and a 10-month old daughter.

"He was found in Karjat around late afternoon. He was in depression and in a temple. He was sitting for a pravachan there. The gram panchayet looking at him did not find him to be a person belonging to the village and contacted the police," said Mohan Jagdale, police sub-inspector and investigating officer.

A team of senior police inspector Yashudas Gorade and police sub-inspector Jaideep Jadhav had formed a team and sent several messages to police stations across the state. "One of the message was also sent to my batchmate who is presently posted in Karjat. After he informed, photographs were exchanged on WhatsApp with the police station there and with the family here. It was conformed that it is Dr Khanna," added Jagdale.

The family has left for Karjat with a constable and they will be coming back with Khanna. "He was not talking and was just given tea and water. He has just about began to open up. Once he comes here, we will talk to him. Since it is the case of an adult, his statement will be taken and he will be allowed to go," said Jagdale.

"All of us are reaching Karjat station in some time. He was spotted there and his photo was sent to us on WhatsApp. We have not spoken to him yet. We will be going and meeting him there. We will talk to you later," said Vikram Khanna's mother who was reaching Karjat with Khanna's wife, sister and daughter.
