Minor raped in Ambernath

On March 20, a seven-year-old was raped by her neighbour who was known to her family members. The accused lured the child with a promise of Rs 100 to buy chocolates with. The victim was taken to his house and raped her at Wadol village in Ambernath.

The girl who was in tears after the incident, was threatened with death by the accused if she informed her family. He also told her that he would not give her the money for chocolates.

The accused who stays in the same colony as the victim approached her when she was playing with her friend. As he was known to the family members no one asked him why and where he was taking the girl.

The event occurred around was around 6.20pm when the accussed's house was empty. He took the girl and kept his hand on her mouth so that she could not cry for help.

ACP Mahesh Chimte at Ambernath police station says, "We have arrested the culprit and he was also produced in court and was given police custody till April 1. As of now we are investigating the acucsed (Manohar Shridhar Mahanto 40). We will also send both for medical tests. The accused is unemployed person and he works on daily wages."
