A minor fire at the ninth floor of Antilia, business tycoon Mukesh Ambani's 27-storey residence at Altamount Road in south Mumbai, caused a major flutter in city before it was doused. While none of the Ambani family members were injured in the incident, the police refused to identify who and how many of the family were present when the fire took place.

Ironically, the fire is believed to have started at a 4G mobile tower installed on the ninth storey at around 9.04 pm. "The fire was probably caused by a short circuit in the mobile tower. It was brought under control within 20 minutes with help from the building security personnel," said Prabhat Rahangdale, Chief Fire Officer.

Three fire engines, two ladder vehicles and a water tanker were rushed to contain the spread, but according to civic officials the fire was doused before the fire officers reached the spot.

"The inmates of the building i.e. the security staff used one line of firefighting equipment and six fire extinguishers to contain the fire," a Disaster Management Control Room officer told DNA. While no one was injured, the vertical garden on the ninth floor was ravaged by the fire.

BMC sources said that the electricity supply to the building was immediately cut off and was restored only after the fire was brought under control. Mumbai police spokesperson Rashmi Karandikar refused to divulge number of policemen rushed to the spot, saying they were sufficient in numbers.
