Minister of state for Housing development Ravindra Waikar on Tuesday announced that SIT (Special Investigating Team) inquiry will be conducted in all the Mhada projects in which developer has not handed over the floor space index (FSI) in the form of flats to BMC.
BJP MLA Ashish Shelar along wiith Sunil Prabhu, Amit Satam, Abu Azami, Nitesh Rane and others had asked a starred question in this regard. Shelar had pointed out that many developers have not handed over flats and have availed the benefit of FSI there by receiving huge benefits.
Shelar said that there are 432 projects and an area of 16 lakh square feet was to be handed over to Mhada in the form of flats. Shelar alleged that government is yet to receive Rs 6000 crore through these projects and that is the reason government should institute SIT inquiry into these Mhada projects.
Waikar while replying to the question said that the cessed buildings have been given permission for redevelopment under development control rule 33(7) and barring 32 projects, Mhada is to avail 1.5 lakh square meters of area from the developers. He informed that Mhada has so far received over 312 thousand square meters from the developers and it is wrong to say that BMC has incurred a loss of Rs 6000 crore. Waikar assured the House that state Government would institute SIT inquiry in to all the projects where developer has not handed over flats in lieu of the FSI and would also take action against concerned officials of Mhada. Waikar said that all the developers who did not undertake the redevelopment work in last 8 to 10 years despite availing permission would be subjected to inquiry.
