The MMOPL may have asked former central information chief Shailesh Gandhi to approach the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority for information on the transit system under the Right to Information Act, but the operator itself has not responded to requests from MMRDA to share the information so that it can be provided to citizens under the Act.

At least twice in the past, the MMOPL has turned a blind eye to requests and reminders from officials dealing with the RTI within the MMRDA. The development authority holds 26% of stake MMOPL and is the only government organisation to which it is accountable.

Last year, RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought information on ticketing revenue, ridership and other details from the MMRDA, which in turn requested MMOPL to share the same. Despite reminders, no response has been received either by the MMRDA or Galgali so far.

dna too had three RTI applications with the MMRDA seeking safety certifications and technical reports of the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety, Research Design and Standards Organisation and Railway Board. All the applications met the same fate.

Additionally, earlier last week dna independently sought ridership statistics and ticketing revenue earned since January 2015, apart from revenue from renting out stalls and advertising rights since Metro's inauguration on June 8, 2014. However, MMOPL did not respond to the mail and reminders through text messages.
