The state government is contemplating on zeroing in on Royal Palms in Goregaon as the location for the car depot for the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro line, thereby raising the possibility of shifting it away from Aarey Milk Colony.
If the government finalises Royal Palms as the location for this underground line's car depot, it may also result in a political blame game.
Royal Palms is a residential colony being developed by a private player that doesn't have immediate connectivity with any mass transport system. But with protests from the green brigade against the depot being located at Aarey Milk Colony, Royal Palms is among the options being looked at by the authorities.
"The state government is considering the land at Royal Palms for the car depot," said Ashwini Bhide, managing director, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation.
If an announcement confirming the same is made, however, it may result in opposition parties levelling charges against the ruling party of favouring the developer at Royal Palms.
