The Mira-Bhayander-Dahisar Metro line is being 'planned' in such a way that almost all commuters on the line will be inconvenienced.

The Metro line will not be a continuous one with the Dahisar East-Andheri East metro link. Commuters coming from Bhayander will have to get off at Dahisar Metro station and hop into another metro bound for Andheri.

"There is no reason why people should have to get off one metro and board another when it is possible to join both the corridors for a seamless ride," said transport analyst Ashok Datar.

There are also plans to extend Dahisar East-Andheri East right up to Santacruz. That would mean that if a seamless commute is planned, passengers from Bhayander will be able to travel up to Santacruz.

Statistics from the Western Railway for the year 2016-17 indicate that a daily average of 43,491 and 30,440 card ticket passengers started their journey from Bhayander and Mira Road respectively. Whereas, a daily average of 1,35,518 and 82,306 season ticket passengers took suburban trains from Bhayander and Mira Road respectively.

Praveen Darade, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA said, "Ridership will be more between Dahisar-Andheri as compared to those taking Mira-Bhayander metro. With a continuous metro link from Bhayander to Andheri, frequency of the metro may get disrupted." He added that the planning team may take a re-look at integration issues at Dahisar.

"Majority of residents in the Mira-Bhayander region travel beyond Borivli because of better job opportunities. Not having a continuous route, it will only result in inconvenience to the public," said Sohel Ahmed, a resident of Mira Road.
