The Thane police on April 21 lodged a case of kidnapping after a 16-year-old mentally challenged boy went missing from a rationing office on April 17. There has been no breakthrough in the case yet.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Devendra Gupta (16), who lived with his family at Maulikrupa Jeevan Society at Manpada in Thane (W).

According to the complaint filed by Gupta's brother, Dharmendra Gupta, Devendra had gone with his mother to the rationing office on April 17, to get his name on the ration card.

When his mother was waiting in the queue, someone took advantage of the crowd and seemingly kidnapped the 16-year-old.

Dharmendra informed the police that after searching for his brother in and around the area, he approached the police to file a complaint on April 21.
