Pratap Sarnaik, member of legislative assembly on Wednesday moved a breach of privilege motion against socialite Shobha De. Sarnaik stated that she had criticized the move of the government of making rule for Marathi language movies be shown on the prime time.

"On twitter, she has used words like dahi misal and wada pav to go with the Marathi films. This is very insulting. Hence a breach of privilege motion is being moved against her," he said.

Soon after the decision, De was among the many who had criticized the move of the government. In a series of tweets, she had called the move dictatorial and also asked the government to not have such rules. The one that Sarnaik mentioned read like this: "No more pop corn at multiplexes in Mumbai? Dahi misal and vada pav only. To go better with the Marathi movies at prime time ."

While the speaker of the lower house asked Sarnaik to give a notice on the same, reacting to the news, De tweeted, " Now a privilege motion demanding an apology from me? Come on! I am a proud Maharashtrian and love Marathi films. Always have. Always will !"
