Ekal Sansthan organised a meeting in Worli on Monday to take forward the streamlining of tribals and rurals by retaining their love for the motherland and nationalism. The organisation is the research and development wing of Ekal Abhiyan, which runs a series of initiatives to streamline tribals and rurals into mainstream society.

“Our idea is to look at ways in which the tribal and rural youth can be streamlined. We are trying to do this by imparting primary education, health programmes, village development education and empowerment education,” said Manju Srivastava, national president and trustee, Ekal Sansthan. Srivastava added, “The youth want rights and their own identity. We are trying to do that.”

The Sansthan runs 61,000 primary schools across India in different villages.“We also discussed how we can provide them with skills because we need to give them support after their primary education.

From each school, there are around 30 students passing out each year. They are taught how to read and write in a play-way, friendly manner,” said Nayantara Jain, trustee, Ekal Sanshtan and vice president, Friends of Tribals Society. Jain added, “We want more people to participate in this and there has been a good response. The idea is to integrate the vision of each.”

“The idea of having something for senior citizens was a good one,” said Pooja Agarwal, convenor, Ekal Sansthan. The meeting saw participation and support from people belonging to various professions.
