The mayor of Mumbai and veteran Shiv Sainik Vishwanath Mahadeshwar has again requested the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to relocate the public toilet set up on Bandra Bandstand promenade, near Galaxy Apartments where actor Salman Khan resides.

Salman's father and scriptwriter Salim Khan and actor Waheeda Rehman met the mayor at his Shivaji Park residence on Monday asking for relocation of the public toilet.

This may spark a standoff between the civic administration and mayor as the administration has maintained that the toilet is not a hindrance to anyone and has shown no interest in relocating the public toilet. Deputy Municipal Commissioner Vijay Balamwar said, "The mayor has asked to shift the toilet, the H-West ward will decide the course of action".

The public toilet at Bandra Bandstand was set up last month through the funds of local MP Poonam Mahajan. Local MLA and Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar has said that the toilet will not be shifted as it was installed on public demand, especially from senior citizens. Around 200 Bandra residents had participated in a signature campaign demanding that the public toilet be shifted.
