Marathi compere Sudhir Gadgil starts cultural consultancy for businessmen

The first Marathi professional compere Sudhir Gadgil would be completing 4,000 public interviews of celebrities in a month's time.

Sudhir Gadgil, ambassador of Marathi culture and pioneer professional compere in Marathi has done it yet again. After video-documenting grandparents, he has now invented a new business of cultural consultancy to entrepreneurs.

The first Marathi professional compere Sudhir Gadgil would be completing 4,000 public interviews of celebrities in a month's time. He has invented a new profession which he describes as cultural consultancy to entrepreneurs. He has video-documented 160 parents of IT professionals in US and now has started cultural consultancy to businessmen as a new profession.

Speaking to DNA, Gadgil said that entrepreneurs including corporate leaders as well as owners of small industries or businesses often do not get time to remain updated on various current issues including those from cultural field as well as other aspects of daily life since they are more concerned about their business.

Explaining his new field, Gadgil said, 'I have already provided consultancy to 2 entrepreneurs and they have paid me handsomely. What I do is I spent around 2 to3 hours with the industrialist or businessman and engage him with a chat over tea, coffee and lunch or dinner as per convenience and availability of time. During this chat, I inform and make aware the businessman about current topics which include must read book, must watch Marathi play or program, must visit new hotels or food joints in Pune or geographical area which can be of the interest to the client, a bit of insight on politics since I have been a journalist and have fair idea about politics.'

Gadgil started compering during his college days way back in 1968 but started his career as a compere in 1978 with popular Marathi orchestra titled `Mantralelya Chaitrabanat' which used to have songs created by legendary Marathi trio of Ga. Di. Madgulkar (Lyricist), Raja Paranjape (film director) and Sudhir Phadke (composer). Despite having appointment and joining letter for a Nationalized bank at the age of 20 and after working as a journalist for a decade, Gadgil left job and decided to pursue the career as a compere, interviewer.

So far he has interviewed almost 4000 personalities including five generations from bolly-wood, Marathi film industry, art and culture as well as sportsmen and industrialists.

While pursuing his career as a journalist and compere, interviewer he has conducted public interviews of Balasaheb Thackeray and Sharad Pawar on 16 occasions. He has been conducting shows with Asha Bhosle for last 29 years. He has interviewed stars from fifties including Suraiyya, Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar to Big B Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman, Govinda, Madhuri Dixit, Urmila Matondkar and list is unending. Five generations of Marathi light music, semi-classical music as well as musical maestros like Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Kishori Amonkar, ustaad Zakir Hussain, Hariprasad Chaurasia to Rahul Deshpande, Mahesh Kale, Manik Verma, Sudhir Phadke, Malati Pande to Hrishikesh Ranade, Lata Mangeshkar to little champs of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa of Zee TV are in the list of Gadgil's interview personalities.

Gadgil was first generation presented for Marathi Yuva Darshan for Door Darshan in early days of DD when Hindi show was presented by bolly-wood actor Farookh Shaikh before he became film actor. Gadgil has penned 9 books and has performed with his one act program through out the world.
