Radheyshyam Mopalwar's troubles don't seem to end. The IAS officer and former Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has been accused of accepting bribes to clear long-pending files.

Accused Satish Mangle, a Thane-based private detective, claimed that several projects pending clearances due to various issues were allegedly cleared by the IAS officer in exchange of money.

Mopalwar had complained to Thane Police about the extortion demands made by Satish Mangle and his wife Shraddha. He alleged that the couple had threatened to defame him using phone call recordings they had, and demanded Rs 7 crore for not doing so and for retracting their allegations of corruption against him.

"During interrogation, Mangle claimed that he had managed to develop contacts with contractors and routed proposals to clear projects of MSRDC which were pending clearances. Mangle allegedly benefited from these by receiving a commission. He claimed that the files were cleared as a favour despite them having issues," said an officer from the Anti-extortion Cell.

Mangle also said that several files of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) which he was rooting for were cleared when Radheyshyam Mopalwar was the Managing Director of MSRDC.

Pradeep Sharma, Investigating officer, Anti-extortion Cell, said, "Mangle has four cases against him and we plan to file a new extortion case against him."

When DNA contacted Mopalwar, he said, "Mangle has been levelling false allegations against me; none of these are true. I have established that Mangle was demanding extortion from me and a case has been filed and now the investigations are on."
