The Oshiwara police finally managed to track down a 19-year-old model, who was abducted two months ago, to Delhi. Her abductor, a history-sheeter involved in over 40 abduction and robbery cases across the country, was caught from a hotel in Delhi where he was holding the model captive and raping her.
According to the police, the model lives in Lokhandwala, Andheri (W), with her mother. On February 12, her mother approached the police, saying her daughter hasn’t returned home for two days. She suspected that the girl had been abducted.
“Following her complaint, we started investigating and found out that she had been in touch with a Mandatta Singh Rathod, 35, before she went missing. We tried tracking the location of her mobile phone, but it kept changing to a different place every three to four days,” said a police officer.
Senior inspector Dilip Rupwate of the Oshiwara police station said that recently, they tracked the model’s location to Delhi and alerted the Delhi police, but they didn’t find anything. “We then sent a police team to Delhi to investigate the case. They found the victim in a hotel where Rathod had held her hostage,” he said.
“We nabbed Rathod, and during investigation, found out that he took the model to Delhi on the pretext of making her his business partner. He told her he had arranged a meeting in Delhi with a few businessmen, but after reaching there, he raped her,” said API Ravindra Patil.
“He threatened to display her obscene pictures on the Internet if she refused to go with him. They then kept moving from city to city, like Hyderabad, Punjab, Bangalore Pune, Nashik and several other places” said Patil.
“We have arrested and booked Rathod for kidnapping and raping the victim. He has been remanded in police custody till May 13,” said Rupawate.
