Man stalks female compounder, slashes his hand with blade

The Pydhonie police on Saturday arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly stalking a female compounder. The arrested person has been identified as Javed Abdul Majid Momin, a resident of Khadak in Masjid Bunder.

Momin had forcibly grabbed the victim's hand, and when the victim refused to talk ot him, he slit his wrist using a blade. The accused person has been remanded in judicial custody till March 29 by a local court.

According to the police, the 24-year old victim works as a compounder in a clinic in Pydhonie and is known to Momin. "On March 20, when the victim was walking near her clinic, Momin started stalking her. He then came towards her and grabbed her hand. He told her that why she hasn't been talking to him. When she refused to show any interest, Momin threatened to end his life," said an officer from Pydhonie police station.

He added that Momin then took out a blade from his trouser pocket and slit his left wrist. "A shocked victim then raised an alarm and Momin fled from the spot. The victim then lodged a complaint in this regard and Momin was picked up from his residence on Saturday," the officer added.

Momin has been booked on the charge of threatening and stalking, police said, adding that he had allegedly committed a similar offence in front of the victim six months ago.
