Man rapes ex-wife; runs away with cash, jewellery in Mumbai's Mira Road area

A 42-year-old man allegedly raped his divorced wife and took away her cash and jewellery worth around Rs 13 lakh here, police said today.

The couple, living in Thane's Mira Road area, had recently divorced.

On November 17, the accused, Adit Amit Nan came to the house of his former wife, raped her and then fled with her cash and jewellery, police said, based on a complaint filed by the victim last night.

Offences under sections 376-A (intercourse by a man with his wife during separation), 452 (trespass), 392 (robbery), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 507 of the IPC have been registered against the accused and a manhunt launched to nab him, they added.
