The Nalasopara police have arrested a 29-year-old man for luring a 23-year-old woman to Kanpur on the pretext of getting her child a role in an advertisement.

The arrested has been identified as Manish Bajpayee, a resident of Nalasopara. According to the police, the woman, a resident of Nalasopara, was a close friend of the accused. Recently, he told her that he has a role for her 2-year-old daughter in a commercial. He also promised to pay her Rs50,000 for it.

Once the woman accepted the offer, Bajpayee told her that they would have to go to Kanpur. On arriving there, he took her to his sister’s house and repeatedly raped her. Due to no mobile connectivity, she could not contact her family. The next day, Bajpayee took the victim to Delhi and deserted her there. Once alone, she managed to get in touch with her husband and asked him to come to Delhi.

After his arrival, the couple approached the Pahadgunj police in Delhi and filed a complaint against Bajpayee. Medical tests proved that the woman had been raped, after which the police transferred the case to the Nalasopara police station.

“After conducting an investigation, we arrested Bajpayee. We are now on the lookout for his accomplice Sandeep, who convinced the victim to accompany the accused to Kanpur,” said Maruti Khedekar, assistant inspector, Nallasopara police station.
