The Azad Maidan Police are on the lookout for a bogus government class 1 official who duped four south Mumbai residents under the pretext of giving them a job in a state-run bank as a clerk and typewriter.

According to the police, a complainant in the case, Vidya Naukudkar (34) had met a man who posed as a class one official in Lok Sewa Aayog and gained her trust. The police said that the accused, after gaining the complainant’s trust, told the woman that he enjoys clout in all the government establishments and can give a job to anyone. Believing him, the woman then asked him to facilitate jobs for two of her relatives and two of her friends in state-run banks. The accused took Rs 4 to 6 lakh from them and promised to give them jobs in a bank as clerks and typewriters.

“After taking Rs 1 lakh in cash from each victim, the accused promised to give a job however when the victims would inquire, he would give excuses. After waiting for almost 5 years and after the accused became untraceable, the victims realised that they have been duped,” said a cop.
