Man hits woman with hammer at Boisar

A man attacked a lady photographer with hammer as she was leaving her photo studio in Boisar on Sunday.

Sanjay Jagdale,32, attacked  victim Pratima Jadhav, 21, when she was leaving Pratibha photo studio around noon. He then tried to flee the spot, but people from neighbouring shops caught him and took him to the police station. The reason behind the attack is still unknown.

Jadhav was rushed to the hospital where she received 15 stitches on her head.

“I was about to leave for lunch when a man came up to me and asked for photographs. I went inside to get them when suddenly, he attacked me with a hammer,” Jadhav said, adding that her screams alerted others.

Police inspector of Boisar MIDC police station Uttam Sonawane said, “We arrested Jagdale under sections 354 (molestation) and 324 (causing hurt with a sharp weapon) of the IPC and will produce him before the Palghar court on Monday.”

Sonawane added that they think previous enmity could be the reason behind the assault and that they are investigating all angles.
