Colaba police on Sunday arrested a 32-year old man for allegedly forcing his aunt to establish physical relationship with him, clicking her nude photograph and threatening to make her photograph viral if she did not comply to his demands. The accused had also allegedly sent the victim's nude photograph to her husband later, police said.

According to the police, complainant (name withheld) is a resident of Colaba. The accused is the son of her sister-in-law who used to visit her regularly. In her complaint, the victim alleged that after September 2015, the accused tried to come close to her. One day, the accused came to victim's house when she was alone. He then embraced her and clicked their photograph together against her wishes. The accused told her that he would show the said photograph to victim's husband and defame her. The accused then left victim's home, police said.

"She further alleged that accused continued to harass her and threatened her that if she would not establish physical relationship with him then he would send the said photograph to her husband. Later, he forcibly took the victim to a hotel at Charni Road and sexually abused her and also clicked her nude photograph. He then blackmailed her and established physical relationship with her several times against her wishes," said an officer from Colaba police station.

Later, the accused kept coaxing the victim to leave her husband. As per the victim, in March this year, the accused took her to a hotel where the victim told him that this would be their last meeting. The accused then verbally abused her and threatened her to continue physical relationship with him, police said.

"On April 12, the accused sent the victim's nude photograph to her husband's mobile phone. When the husband confronted her, she narrated her entire ordeal to him. The accused later sent a message to the husband asking him to throw his wife out of his home else he would make her photograph viral. Ensuring that the said photograph is not seen by anyone else, he transferred it to the mobile phone of one of victim's friend and deleted it from his mobile phone. They then got a police complaint registered in this regard against the accused on April 21," said the officer.

The police later learnt that the accused had left the country on April 14 after which a lookout notice (LoC) was issued against him. On Saturday, when the accused returned to Mumbai, he was caught by the immigration authorities and was handed over to Colaba police. "We are probing as to where all the accused has made victim's photograph viral and are yet to seize the electronic equipment used in the crime," the officer said.

The accused has been booked under sections 376 (1) (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66E (punishment for violation of privacy) and 67A (punishment for publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.
