The Dadar Government railway police (GRP) on Sunday arrested a 27-year-old man who would allegedly hurl stones at the ladies coach of local trains at Dadar railway station. The accused has been identified as Devdas Vele.

According to the police, the accused would throw stones at ladies coaches of passing trains and flee the spot.

On Saturday, the accused threw a stone from platform number 3 of the station which led to a 44-year-old woman being injured. Following the woman's complaint, the police registered a case against the accused and started the probe.

"We scanned CCTV footage from the station in which he could be seen hurling stones at the ladies coaches. On Sunday at around 6 am we laid a trap on the platform to nab the accused. A few ladies along with our officers managed to nab him," said Nitin Bobade, senior police inspector, Dadar central government railway police. "We had received several complaints about similar instances of stones being hurled at the ladies compartment. We were trying to nab him for the past several days but he would flee immediately," added Bobade.
